These docs cover Strata 0.9.0-preview.1.It is a preview, and the API can still change before 1.0.

Roadmap

Strata 0.9.0-preview.1 launched publicly on October 30, 2026. This page says what comes next and what each version needs before it ships.

The dates are targets, not promises. A version ships when everything it needs is done, not when its date arrives. This page is updated with every release.

Strata is a preview. The engines are built and tested in both languages, and the packages are on nuget.org and crates.io. The API can still change between previews. Why Strata is a preview explains what that means for you, and Known limitations lists what isn’t built yet.

Target: November to December 2026.

0.9.0-preview.N releases follow from what people report after the launch. Each one lists what changed in the changelog, with what to do when you upgrade.

0.9.0, without the preview label, ships when three things are done:

  • A formal checkpoint schema. The checkpoint format in schema/ is versioned, and migrations exist. The spec that makes it normative, with a tested migration, isn’t written yet.
  • A load report from a real application. Strata was built alongside StrataOps, an autonomous SRE system built on Strata that isn’t public yet. Its large-scale load test, run against a simulator, isn’t finished.
  • StrataOps building from the published packages instead of from source.

Also planned for this period:

  • CLI builds for macOS on Apple silicon and Linux on ARM64.
  • The rest of these docs: the how-to guides and tutorials that are still being written.
  • Code samples in the docs that are built and tested in the framework’s CI.
  • A generated API reference for .NET and Rust.

Target for 1.0.0-rc: January to May 2027.

  • An API review of the public surface in both languages, with a deprecation policy and a written stability promise.
  • A decision on each item that isn’t built. Each one is either built for 1.0 or dropped, with the reason written down. These include:
    • checking that every path can reach an end (STRATA_ERR_NO_TERMINAL)
    • a ValidationGuard hook that re-checks state on resume
    • strata thread resume
    • a strata checkpoint replay that runs the node
    • field-level encryption of checkpoint state
    • Native AOT and trimming for the .NET packages

1.0.0-rc ships when:

  • at least one team outside Datalium runs Strata in production,
  • someone outside Datalium has reproduced the benchmarks,
  • the checkpoint schema has stayed stable through a release, and
  • the API review is done.

Target: second quarter of 2027.

Version 1.0 comes with the API stability promise, a support statement and the deprecation policy. After 1.0, these docs become versioned, so you can read the docs for the version you run.

Strata stays open source under the Apache 2.0 license.

These are separate products built around the framework. They have no dates yet.

  • Strata Cloud: a hosted checkpoint store, with a console and a queue where people answer approvals. The client already ships, in Datalium.Strata.Cloud and datalium-strata-cloud, for the Strata Cloud private beta. A public beta and general availability follow.
  • Strata Desktop: a preview is planned.

The roadmap follows what people need. Open an issue on GitHub to ask for a feature, or to tell us which known limitation blocks you.
